Every gift makes a difference for older adults in Alamosa and throughout the San Luis Valley.

Today, more than one in five residents of Alamosa County is over the age of 60—and that number is growing. Many of these older adults live alone, far from extended family, and face significant challenges due to limited income and rural isolation. Access to basic services—such as healthcare, nutrition, transportation, and social support—is often difficult in our region.


That’s where we come in.

Why Your Support Matters

At the Alamosa Senior Center, we provide connection, nourishment, enrichment, and wellness for hundreds of older adults each year. Through classes, meals, outreach, and volunteer engagement, we help seniors remain independent, active, and socially connected.

We operate with a small staff and a modest annual budget of approximately $160,000. Roughly:

Last year alone, with the help of generous supporters like you, we accomplished:

  • 270+ fitness and wellness classes offered
  • 10–15 seniors per class, with many attending multiple times per week
  • 34,638 meals served to congregate and homebound seniors
  • 229 meals served in December alone when other providers paused service
  • 25 transportation rides provided to medical appointments and essential errands
  • 700+ volunteer hours contributed by community members
