Lunch Program

Our weekday lunch program serves nutritious, hot meals to seniors in Alamosa and the surrounding communities. These lunches are more than just food—they’re a daily ritual of connection, friendship, and community. Volunteers are vital to this program: they help serve, clean, and sit alongside guests in meaningful conversation.

Through this program, we address senior hunger, promote healthy eating habits, and reduce social isolation among older adults. It’s one of the most powerful ways to make a difference.

About the Program:


The noon meal is more than just food—it’s an opportunity for seniors to stay connected, share stories, and build friendships. Our dining room is a welcoming space where laughter is shared and everyone is part of the community.


Overview:
The Alamosa Senior Center offers a nutritious, hot lunch through the San Luis Valley Area on Aging every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12:00 PM. Meals are served in the dining room on the north side of Cole Park, located at 92 Colorado Avenue in Alamosa, Colorado.

This Congregate Meal Program is supported by the San Luis Valley Area Agency on Aging and is designed to support the health and well-being of local seniors through regular access to balanced meals and social connection.


**Thursday Lunches are offered by Alamosa Senior Citizens, and require a $5.00 contribution. Lunch menus for this day change monthly and are available for anyone. Reservations are not required for Thursdays, meals are first come, first served.**

Lunch Schedule:

  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Time: 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM (doors open at 11:30 AM for seating and socializing)
  • Location: Alamosa Senior Center Dining Room, 92 Colorado Ave, Alamosa, CO

San Luis Valley Area Agency on Aging's Menu:

Meals include a hot entrée, vegetable or salad, side dishes, fruit or dessert, and a beverage (milk, coffee, or tea). Menus change monthly and reflect seasonal favorites and balanced nutrition.


Each day's offering is posted on our Facebook page and monthly menus are posted on our website, on-site, and at the front desk.

Sample meals might include:



  • Roast turkey with mashed potatoes and green beans
  • Meatloaf with mixed vegetables and fruit
  • Baked fish with rice and salad
  • Soup and sandwich combo
  • Grilled chicken with wild rice and steamed vegetables

Cost and Contributions:

San Luis Valley Area Agency on Aging's program is open to all adults age 60 and older. While there is no required fee, a suggested contribution of $4.00 per meal helps sustain the program.


  • Seniors (60+): Suggested contribution $4.00
  • Guests under 60: $9.00 per meal


No eligible senior is turned away due to inability to contribute
